Find out more about Ancient Egypt at the Manchester Museum...

Hi, I'm Susan Bulleid, Curator of Learning (Primary) at the Manchester Museum. I work with the Learning Team who organise and run all the activities for schools. My job is to look after all the activities for children at primary school.
Teaching Resources
Why not try the links on the left to find some great Ancient Egypt teaching resources. These can be used before, during or after a visit to the museum or, if you can't get to the museum, why not use them in your classroom?
Enjoy a visit

There are lots of ways that you can enjoy a visit to the museum. If you come with school you might meet me or one of the other people who work in our team.
We are able to offer special opportunities to school visitors which might include handling real Ancient Egyptian artefacts, hearing stories about life in Ancient Egypt, or taking part in activities like drama, art or writing.
These special sessions must be booked in advance as lots of groups like to come to see the Egyptian collections. There is more information about how to organise a school visit on the Manchester Museum website.
The Museum also often has special activities for family visitors with themes like Egyptians or Dinosaurs, you can find out about these on the website too.
Meet my colleagues
I work with other colleagues in the Museum to develop and run the sessions for schools - look out for them if you visit the museum.
Collections curators
Collection curators are in charge of all the objects in the Museum and can give us information about the objects, where they come from, how old they are and what they were used for. They also help us choose the best artefacts to use with visitors.
Conservation staff
The conservation staff check that the objects will not be damaged if lots of people handle them - and repair them if anything disastrous does happen!
Visitor services staff
These are the people you will meet on the galleries. They will help you to find your way around the museum and try to answer any questions you have.
I enjoy my job here as it is great to work with wonderful old artefacts and meet all the visitors, I hope to meet you soon...
